Ironman Austria 2003: what's going on? (March 11, 2003)

Something good! – smile Triangle's Helge Lorenz, organizer of Ironman Austria, arce that on July 6th will reach its fifth edition. Here's some questions for him.

Any change for the race course?

No, almost anything. The new solution for the bikes in Europa Park worked very well, last year, (bikes reached the turnaround point near the finish area in the park, leaving the roads to audience and cars and allowing a good safety for all) and won't touch it.

The swim will change the start: there will be a dock "added" to make a wider starting line. We're still figuring the pro field: I can confirm now just that Wendy Ingraham will be back to race with us. What else? Oh, important: we will reach a maximum of 2,000 entrants, this year –

My question is due, now! 2,000 athletes? And what with the drafting problems you had last year, on the nice 60 km lap?

We know the problem, but this year we think things will change. It's two years we're building an our own team of marshals, to support the work of the Austrian Federation officers. So, this year we will have a huge number of marshals on the course, and they will apply the drafting rules according to the high, severe, Hawaii standard

About Hawaii... Are you thinking about it, Helge?

Hope to race there this year, with Stefan! Georg (the race director) will race in Lanzarote, instead.

As you can see, always active, at Triangle.
